LSPD and LSFR responded to a MVA involving a SADOT worker. LSFR didn't stay long, they were dismissed when LSPD declared this as a "Hit a Worker" case with no injuries. LSPD stated "the semi truck driver was fiddling with his radio when" the truck driver "clipped the DOT truck." Luckily the worker was inside his truck messing with a call box that was damaged. The truck also was in neutral but has the breakaway brake applied. Allowing the truck to roll instead of getting demolished by the semi. SADOT is very grateful that they applied the "break away break" in all there trucks.
This feature allows the truck to be in the case of an accident, to roll or go with the impact instead of getting pushed and destroyed by the force of impact. SADOT reported this is their first worker incident of 2015 and will be analyzing it and enforcing new procedures. SADOT did state "the worker had his LED ambers on at the time of impact." LSPD is currently investigating.
