FIB, LS County Sheriff's deputies, and SAHP are all being credited for rescue two airplane occupants this afternoon. Thier airplane experienced trouble when attempting to land at Sandy Shores Municipal Airport. The plan was to land in the Adriatic Sea, but a wind current caused the plane to go down near the Raton Canyon section of the state forest.
Law Enforcement, including the Ports and Aviation Unit of the SAHP, were waiting for the plane in West Sandy Shores and were able to make a quick change. The plane occupants were rescued downstream and transported with non-life threatening injuries.
